Art Studios | Lakewood, CO

Our team was commissioned to transform an abandoned 1960's CMU block building in Lakewood, Colorado into a series of artist studios that would not only foster great art, but a sense of community as well. The original structure was poorly lit, with deep, awkwardly proportioned spaces and minimal to no access to natural light - a major detriment to the user typology. Essential aspects of the project were to provide artists with very intentional access to direct and diffused light deep within the space, as well as to provide smart storage solutions and durable finish materials. Ultimately, the 4,000 sqft building with attached garage went from a near condemned structure, destined to be torn down, to an oasis in the heart of Lakewood supporting local artists.
